At the grand opening ceremony titled “Plug into the Future,” Delta Electronics, a prominent EV charging solutions provider in the Philippines, introduced its Delta DC and AC EV chargers at Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc-Subic Station. This new Delta EV charger station, situated at Unioil Subic Bay Freeport Zone, aligns with the Government’s objective of expediting E-mobility adoption in the Philippines under the EVIDA Law.

Under the leadership of Mr. Noel Soriano, VP-Operations at Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc., the momentous ceremony featured distinguished attendees such as Mr. Eric Ortiz, Department Head of Hyundai Motors Philippines, Mr. Dax Avenido, General Manager of Communications of Nissan Philippines, and Hon. Jonathan Tan, SBMA Chairman. Notably, representatives from hotels and car dealerships within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and Clark Development Corp also graced the event.

Delta’s EV charging station launch event aims to tackle the pressing concerns of EV drivers, specifically addressing range anxiety and the scarcity of charging infrastructure. To accomplish this, the event focuses on three primary objectives:

The Delta EV Charging Station, strategically located in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, emerges as a prime destination, catering to visitors and addressing their charging needs. With a considerable distance of 174 km between NAIA Terminal 1 and Subic, the introduction of the new public charging facility at Unioil Subic Station brings immense relief and convenience for EV drivers in the area.

Creating awareness among neighbouring public and private establishments, especially those equipped with parking areas, becomes a significant focus. This effort aims to educate them about the Implementation Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the EVIDA Law RA 11697, specifically Rule V Sections 20 to 24, which will be fully enforced by July 2023.

In an endeavour to promote EVs and their advancements, key industry players such as Hyundai and Nissan are invited to participate. Their involvement will aid in raising public awareness about the range of EV models available in the market and the latest technological innovations in the EV industry.

During the event, Delta impressed attendees with a demonstration of the Delta DC Wall box 25 kW charger’s capabilities, showcasing its dual charging interface and simultaneous charging feature. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 was charged using a CCS2 charging gun, while a Nissan LEAF was simultaneously charged with a CHAdeMO charging gun. This demonstration highlighted the versatility and efficiency of Delta’s charging solutions.

Furthermore, Delta’s AC Max 22kW and AC Mini plus 7.4 kW chargers were prominently showcased, capturing the attention of industry stakeholders. These AC chargers were lauded for their suitability for both home charging and commercial/workplace charging applications, offering diverse advantages.

To ensure the success of the event, Delta Channel Partners contributed their local technical and service expertise. Mr. Mike Borbe, Dealers Manager and BDM of Yek Yeu, and Mr. Petre Noda, the Sales Director of Edgetech, shared their areas of expertise to cater to the needs of local customers.

The launch ceremony enjoyed the presence of esteemed guests, including the Governor of Zambales, as well as political figures from Cabanatuan and Maria Aurora Province. Engaging discussions took place during a working luncheon, providing an opportunity for fruitful exchanges on EV-related matters.
